The NYC 2011 Makeup Show Recap
Would you believe me if I told you that i’m still floating on a makeup high? Yup that’s right friends, I attended the 2011 Makeup Show and this year’s makeup show was hands down the most exciting for me. I don’t know if it was the new vendors and celebrity makeup artist that joined the stellar line up or if it was the amazing people I interacted with. Whatever was in the air this past weekend, still has me floating on cloud nine. This year the Makeup Show celebrated 6 years of bringing the best and brightest like minded individuals together to learn, shop and explore all things makeup related.
This year’s pro-only show saw over 6,000 beauty professionals, buyers, press, industry educators, retailers and celebrities at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The aisles were filled with exclusive unveilings, newly introduced beauty products, and celebrity makeup artist.
My weekend started off with a fabulous preview show, where the hilarious and talented James Vincent shared a few of his favorite companies and products for this year’s show. He also shared the newbies to the already great line up of exhibitors. A few of the new exhibitors included Glamcor, NARS, and YSL. After the preview show, there was a very chic cocktail party that show cased some of the exhibitors, and there were even makeup artists in the wide open space, doing what they do best, beating faces and creating art.
The highest highlight of the weekend for me was meeting and chatting with Mr. Reggie Wells. If you don’t know who he is, you better ask somebody or better yet google him baby. LOL He came and sat with a small group of us and just talked and kept it real with us about the makeup industry, etc. The realness, tips and tricks he shared are priceless and will forever be stamped in my brain.
The next morning my roomie (ShanaJanelle) and I headed to the show bright and early, let me just say this real quick, the staff over at the W New York-Union Square hotel was not only friendly but, they were so accommodating and helpful, we vowed to pay them a visit again in the near future. When we got to the the show there was a huge line awaiting for entry into the show luckily we had press passes and bypassed that long line. Upon entering we immediately began shopping or at least I did. I didn’t attend any seminars or classes
as my schedule didn’t permit it. But I did enjoy walking around shopping and talking with all the brands and different makeup artists. Next year I will make certain to spend the first day shopping and the second day learning or vice versa.
Overall, I as always had an amazing time. I met a lot of my twitter/blogging friends and even got to chat with some of youtube’s finest gurus. I can’t wait to the next NYC show because, I want to see just how they will top themselves. The 2011 show was outstanding.
Here are a few pictures from the cocktail party.
OMG, I wish my camera could have picked up how awesome that cheek highlight was and it was two of Inglots eyeshadows mixed together. Dag now I wish I knew the shadow numbers. It was so pretty on this gorgeous model
Hand crafted tattoos being airbrushed by a Temptu artist. Don’t they look real?
