Tarina Tarantino Collection Review, Swatches, Photos
The “Queen of Irreverent Luxury” , accessory designer, Tarina Taratino has added another notch to her belt with a cosmetic collection. Tarantino is best known for her brilliant jewelry and fuchsia tresses. But, this former makeup artist has gone back to her roots and created a line of makeup with pretty packaging for all the pretty girls in the world.
Now you all know I am a sucker for pink and pretty so, when I saw that Sephora would be selling Tarantino’s line exclusively. I went on a hunt to find it. Upon arriving to my local Sephora, I saw no pretty pink displays anywhere. I was quickly advised that the line was in the store but not ready for release. Bummed, I pouted around the store until a sales associate secretly came to me asking me if I knew exactly what I wanted from the collection. I kindly looked at her and said “anything”. Well not anything but I wanted what I saw in the Sephora advertisement. Maybe 15 minutes later the sales associate came back with the cutest pink & silver boxes I’d ever seen. I made my purchase and smiled all the way home.
Here’s a look at what I snagged and a few swatches:
Eye Dream Hypershadow ($19). Available in a wide variety of colors and textures, these shadows are a creamy and silky smooth even the glittery ones. The color pay-off is what impressed me most. While swatching them I noticed that the lightest touch picked up a fair amount of color and that the pigmentation was consistent. Though these colors are dupable, the packaging sold me :-)
Gem Gloss ($19). Think MAC Cremesheen and Dazzle Glass. The color selection is very nice ranging from bold pinks to neutral nudes. Some have glitter some don’t. To be totally honest my favorite thing about these is the fruity scent. It is so much better than the vanilla scent MAC uses.
Magic Hour Cream Shadow ($19). Available only in three shades currently. This cream shadows, are a lightweight formula that works great as a base, shadow or liner. These cream shadows are slightly thinner than paint pots, but a bit thicker than NYX jumbo pencils. Just to give you an idea of the feel.
Overall, I’m impressed with what I picked up from the line. The packaging is adorable and hand crafted. The color selection in regards to shadows, liners, lip colors are suitable and approachable for all skin tones. But, the face products are limited in color selection. I didn’t even venture into that area because I didn’t see one powder that would suit my color needs.
PS. If you’re a V.I.B. (Very Important Beauty Insider) customer you also get a free bracelet. There are three colors to choose from pink, red & black. I picked the black one.
