Sleek Makeup Mediterranean Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos
June 25, 2011 in Bargin/Drugstore Goodies, Makeup, Product Reviews by Silver Lips 3 comments
Sleek Makeup a UK brand, that seriously need to be sold here in the states, has launched a brand new limited edition collection named “Mediterranean”. This three-piece collection is made up of a 12 pan eyeshadow palette, blush and pout polish. The Mediterranean collection is all about the interpretation of clear blue skies & oceans, orange sunsets and the vividly rich colors of the Mediterranean area.
Sleek Makeup is known for their infamous 12 pan sleek black eyeshadow palettes. And the “Monaco” palette is no different, This palette offers 7 matte shades and 5 shimmer/pearl shades. Now let me tell you this, all the matte shades in this palette were not made equally. Some are very pigmented, while others (Bamboo , Magenta Madness & Sand Walker) are sightly powdery and sheer. They require heavy packing on to show up on my skin. The shimmer/pearl shades are all amazing and the color pay-off is divine. The eyeshadow looks are endless with this palette. You can do bold and sultry or neutral and soft looks. And $10.50 for 12 shadows makes this palette and all the other Sleek Makeup palettes an awesome deal. (I’m not even going to tell you that I already own three other sleek palettes and have yet to really put them to use, not even going to tell you lol)
“Santorini” blush ($6.00) is a hot pink magenta color that looks more intimidating in the pan than actually on the skin. This blush reminds me a lot of La Femme’s ” Fuchsia” blush. When applied it requires a couple of layers to get the same intensity as it is in the pan, if that’s your desired coloring. Any skin tone can rock this bold color with the right brush. I wouldn’t use a densely packed blush brush for this product but, more like a fan brush or duo-fibered brush. These brushes will allow you to control the level of boldness or softness.
“Monte Carlo” pout polish ($6.50) is a very beautiful sheer tinted lip conditioner. It applies very nicely to the lips and has a subtle hint of magenta coloring. It is the perfect balance to the bold cheek and eyeshadow shades available with this collection. The pout polishes don’t taste too good but, they are very moisturizing and have a wonderful shine. Thinking of it , these remind me of a cross between L’oreal’s jelly balms and MAC’s tendertones.
Overall, this collection is very pretty. “Santorini” blush is what originally drew me into this collection but, that quickly changed after swatching and playing around with the “Monaco” palette. The only down side to this collection is that the blush, and some of the eyeshadows are dupable. Making it for some hard to justify sending $13.50 on shipping for this collection.
