Sigma “Make Me Cool” Professional Brush Kit: Review, Photos
Sigma Beauty has recently introduced a few new brush sets that are truly for the fun at heart type gal or guy. You know the artist (everyone is an artist in my book) who doesn’t always have a serious face. lol The Sigma Beauty “Make Me” collection was specially designed for a fun yet functional makeup application. The “Make Me” collection combines high quality tools with cool and beautiful colors.
I adore this aqua colored set. As it is the prettiest of the sets in my opinion. The aqua color really reminds me of Tiffany’s blue boxes. And I love Tiffany’s jewelry. The four available sets are: Make Me Blush-pink, Make Me Cool-aqua, Make Me Crazy-purple & Make Me Classy-black. Retailing for $99.00 you get 12 best sellers inside a durable and multifunctional container. Besides protecting your brushes, this exclusive container transforms into 2 stylish brush holders. Now that’s what I call bang for your buck.
Here is a complete list of the included brushes with uses according to Sigma Beauty:
Small Angle – E65 – Essential for the application of gel or cream eyeliner on the upper and lower lash line. This brush is also excellent for filling out the eyebrows. Synthetic bristles.
Medium Angled Shading – E70 – Angled, tapered, flat top. Ideal to apply highlight shades underneath the eyebrow and on the inner corners. It can also be used for a precise application of darker shades on the crease area. Natural bristles.
Large Shader – E60 - Flat shape is ideal for application of cream formulas and eye shadow primers. It also works great with loose eye shadows or pigments. Can be used to apply color all over the lid or precisely on the lash line. Natural bristles.
Pencil – E30 - Precise application of color on the crease, outer corner, and upper and lower lash line. Also ideal to smudge out pencil liner. Natural bristles.
Large Angled Contour – F40 – The angled shape makes this brush ideal to apply blush or contour shades. Natural bristles.
Large Powder – F30 – Very dense with a rounded top. Ideal to apply powder products on face and body. Natural bristles.
Duo Fibre – F50 – Specially designed to generate an ‘airbrushed’ finish when used to apply liquid foundation. It can also be used to apply blush, highlight shades and loose pigments. Blend of synthetic and natural bristles.
Foundation – F60 – Can be used to apply liquid or cream foundation. It is also recommended to apply moisturizer and conceal large areas. Synthetic bristles.
Concealer – F70 – The rounded, tapered, flat shape makes this brush ideal to conceal the under eye area. It is also recommended for a precise application in small areas. Synthetic bristles. *I personally like to use this brush to apply emollient products to my eyes like: paint pots, aqua creams and cream color bases.
Tapered Blending – E40 – Rounded and tapered top. Specially designed to apply and blend color on the crease. Natural bristles.
Eye Shading – E55 – Soft and dense with a rounded finish. Can be used to apply pressed or loose eye shadows and pigments. Ideal to build intense color on the eyelid. Natural bristles.
Eyeliner – E05 – An extra-fine tipped synthetic fiber brush that delivers a precise, firm, even stroke to line the eyes.
Now I purchased my first full professional set from Sigma back in 2009, when they were using the SS numbering system. I know that since 2009 they have changed the names of the brushes but, I do believe that the quality of the brushes are the same. I did notice a few changes in some of the brushes, but I’m not certain if it was a change with all there available brushes or just the ‘Make Me” collection. Like the Pencil-E30 brush is bit more tapered and pointy than my original SS219 one, which is a total plus in my book. I also noticed that the Eye Shading-E55 brush is wider and the hairs aren’t as dense as the SS239 brush. I love my old SS239 brush. It is perfect for packing on color to the lid. The new E-55 brush is good but it doesn’t pack on color like the old version. The last brush that I saw a change in is the Large Shader-E60, the brush hairs on this one are now longer and a hint stiffer than the SS252. Anyway, at any rate these brushes are still just as good as my original set. I like how the wording on the brushes is now engraved on instead of just printed on each brush. It makes the brushes look more official and prevents the wording from rubbing off after extended use.
Onto the multi-purpose container. This has to be the cutest brush container I have ever used. If your like me you normally keep your brushes in a jar or vase. And, have you ever noticed that sometimes when you go to reach for a brush there is a little dust on it? Well with this container, dust doesn’t settle on the brush hairs at all. I like that I can choose how I want to use these containers. I originally thought I would use one container for lip/eyeliners but then I remembered the dust and decided to use as planned (a brush holder) But, your uses are truly up to you. The only downside to these containers are the leathery smell. I’m kinda sensitive to smells and the smell out the box was very strong. It has diminished some but b/c I keep the brushes closed up, every time I open it I get a nice whiff of plastic/leather.
Overall, I really am enjoying this set. It’s fun and plain ole’ pretty. These brushes wash well and none of them lost their shape or luster. I know some people have talked about the ferrule being wobbly but not one of the brushes in my set feel or look like they are going to break or separate anytime soon. If your shopping for a fun brush set. I think you would like these. Heads up professional makeup artist out there, I think this set would make the perfect kit set. Why? Well because of the colors you can choose from. No longer will you have to worry about identifying your brushes from others as, these will save you time and nail polish from having to tag your other brushes.
Have you tried any of Sigma brushes? If so, what’s your favorite(s)?

Hey Nikkia!
I have been looking at this set in this exact same colour for my kit!! I think I’m going to get it. I’m glad you liked it. I am also thinking of getting the HD Kabuki brush set as well.
Laters!
