NARS Fall Collection Haul & My Fixation With Hype
Hello.
My Name is Nikkia.
And I have a fixation with hype. Yes, friends I need serious hype help.
Let me explain, because I know some of you are thinking what is this lady talking about. OK here is the story. As a makeup junkie, addict, lover, connoisseur, you get the picture, I find that I buy way to much makeup and I barely touch half of it. But as of late, I have been fixated with products that have been overly hyped. Case in point, Urban Decay Naked Palette, I love the palette don’t get me wrong but it wasn’t a need. But what happens is when I go online and it ‘s sold-out and I go to stores and it’s sold out. It makes me want it even more. I instantly go into hunt & search mode. I’m like a makeup monster, until I can call it mine. But as soon as it is mine, the hype is over. I put the product(s) on the shelf and then begins the dust collecting.
Why do I do this? I don’t know! I have always wanted what I wanted but lately its bad, makeup wise. Am I alone on this? Am I the only one who has this hype fixation? I hope not. lol
OK, so here is my NARS haul including a “Hyped” product. Nars’ 2010 fall collection is very pretty. It has been blasted on almost every blog I read. And I read over 200. So when I saw the Rajasthan duo (taupe/dark green-blue), I instantly thought ” it’s dupable & I don’t need it”. So tell me friends, why did I buy it? Well because it was sold out every where even on the official NARS site. So my hunt & search began and I found it available at Blue Mercy and I picked it today. I also picked up “Mansgrove” which wasn’t hyped up but, was a very pretty color. The swatchess make it look like a bright chartuese green but it is more of deep mustard gold green in person. If that makes sense.
Alright, I have confessed my fixation and shared my recent haul!

I received my naked palette this weekend, looked at it and I was like..ok, I thought I was trying to wear more colors, I already have similar colors. But I also know that the fact that it is sold out everywhere, there’s no way in hell I am swapping. I did that w/ products such as Pink grapefruit by MAc, Metal Rock..yes at that time I thought it was just TOO glittery and now that I don’t have it I cry whenever I think of it.LOL
so yes you’re not the only one. I got the strawberry fields lippie and it is pretty!!
there’s also a stila palette..the barbie palette…with 12 e/s. I ordered it and it came back crushed..i mean damaged. I called in, they sent me another one: damaged!
apparently it is soo fragile that they pulled it out of the website..
now I want it soo bad..LOL
anyways maybe we could start swapping??but then I’m sure we’ll email each other…ahem Amina, I want xyz back! LOL

LOL I know exactly what you mean. Hype is what gets us going..like we are in the know and have the latest and greatest that everyone else covets! It takes lots of willpower but I’ve resisted NARS/Dior/UD latest collections. We’ll see how I do with MAC!

I normally fall into the hype of product launches . . . but I didn’t fall for this Naked palette madness. When I saw the reviews and swatches I knew for sure I could pass it up. Urban Decay duplicates too many of their shadows when they release different palettes. Come on . . . how many pans of baked eyeshadow could a girl use? Lol. Then they rename the same shadows for special palettes . . . AIW BOS!!! SMH!!!

FYI..Ulta…has the Naked Palette..NOT sold out. LOL.
The store in Silver Spring…lol @ ‘make up monster’..it’s all good.

I am like that as well. I will say to myself “self you don’t need that” Then when it is sold out I am on the hunt until I get it and then I forget it. I have been actively searching for Mac’s Beautyburst eyeshadow. I finally got it and I think I have used it maybe twice.

lol..i feel ya, but my collection is not as grand as some, but I’m getting there :/ I love neutral looks for everyday. I have the 28 Neutral palette from ebay..but some colors are chalky and need a base. I dont have time putting 50 different products on my lids to get a look ..so I will be getting the UD Naked palette…@Amirah thanks for the info… I well try Silver Spring Ulta for sure

Um yeah, I’m guilty! It started with Marine Life and now I can’t stop. I don’t want the UD Naked Palette at all but I will get it just in case I want it later on….yes I have a problem!

If it weren’t for all the hype especially on youtube,,,, They would not be selling hardly any high end makeup. Most of the makeup while good I mean most of it is just as good as drugstore and a few of it is really worth what you are paying for it:)
