If you have ever watched a beauty related video on Youtube, than you already know who Makeup Geek is, right? If not, check her out now! I’ll wait! lol
Marlena, the gorgeous face behind the brand Makeup Geek, is a great makeup artist who does outstanding tutorials and reviews on her Youtube channel and website. Well not to long ago she launched her very own line of eye shadows and (recently lipsticks) and I just had to give them a try.
Makeup Geek Eye shadows are available in 56 complimentary colors and can be purchased in individual compact pots ($7.99) or refill pans ($5.99). They are 0.064 oz, which makes them a hint larger than MAC shadows which are 0.05 oz.
These eye shadows are super soft and well pigmented. As a matter of fact, I would go on record to say that some of these shadows are equal to, if not better than some high-end makeup brands. The quality and texture of these shadows are outstanding. They are not hard to work with and are super blendable. The color pay-off stays true with or without a primer. They have a wear time of at least 6 hours without a primer and with a primer these bad boys lasted until I removed them.
Sadly, I only purchased six of these eye shadows but, I will definitely be purchasing more in the very near future.
Here’s a look at the six I purchased with description:
Unexpected – Light and subtle pink matte purple blend. This color is super soft and pigmented. This makes a perfect lid or crease color.
Cocoa Bear – Matte golden brown. Move over MAC Brown Script. The color is outstanding as a transition color or outer V shade. It blends seamlessly and doesn’t require multiple layers to get the desired opaqueness.
Corrupt – Intense matte black with hint of sparkle. This is hands down one of the best black eye shadows, I have ever used. It is richly pigmented and requires a light hand. It is a must-have.
Twilight - Pale Shimmery Muted Purple. This color is very subtle, It is a pretty color to wear as a lid color.
Ocean Breeze - metallic deep blue. This is a very pretty metallic blue. It works and looks great on all skin tones. I really like using this on my lower lash line for a deep sultry pop.
Moondust – Metallic silver taupe. This my one of my favorite colors from this lot I ordered. The color is neutral and goes well with everything.
Overall, I am more than pleased with these eye shadows. If you are looking for great quality, great color selection and great prices for eye shadows, look no further. Makeup Geek eye shadows can be found here. If you haven’t checked them out, please do so ASAPington.
