MAC Wonder Woman Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos

Look out! It’s a bird, no wait that’s a plane! No it’s Wonder Woman?  But what’s that she’s caring? It’s her newly released MAC collection. OK that was super corny, I know. lol  I can’t speak for anyone else but, when I first heard about the D.C. Comics & MAC collaboration. I was instantly intrigued and excited. I wondered what the colors would be, how the packaging would look and what new product/formula would be introduced.

Well fast forward to about a couple weeks ago. When images were released and spread across the wonderful worldwide web like lightening. Not only was I really digging the super hero like packaging of this 33 piece collection. I also liked that some products were super sized. What I didn’t/don’t like is the price increase for the products that are not super sized like the lipsticks, pigments, and eyeshadows.

Heroine lipstick is described as a frosty brown bronze.  I originally thought is color wasn’t going to have good color pay-off as some frost formulas don’t but, this one is very pretty and looks gorgeous with secret identity lipglass.

Spitfire lipstick is described as a bright creamy fuchsia. Now MAC has released enough fuchsia, pink and purple colored lipsticks in the last couple of collections to last us a lifetime. However. this color was just calling me. There is something slightly different about this color. It is the only lipstick of this color range that requires no lipliner. And that’s a huge plus in my book.

Althena’s Kiss lipstick is described as a bright creamy fuchsia. Now MAC has released enough fuchsia pink/purple lipsticks in the last couple months that could last a lifetime. But there is something different about this one. It is the only color in this range that doesn’t require a lip liner. And that is a huge plus for me.

Secret Identity lip-glass is a mid-toned copper with a soft pearl. This is a very ordinary lip-glass color in my opinion. There is nothing really exciting about it but, it works perfect for every day use. It applied nicely but, I think that the jumbo sized doe-foot wand helps with that. The fact that the lip-glasses in this collection are jumbo sized makes these a must-have.

Now beware of the jumbo size of theses because, the large doe foot wand is a little hard to get out of the tube. I suggest that you ease the wand out to prevent the product from splattering about.

Golden Lariat mineralize skin finish is a super mega jumbo sized product. The msf’s are the shining star stand out of this collection for me. This msf is described as a true coral with fine gold shimmer/Soft suntanned bronze/Soft gold with fine shimmer. It’s like getting three msf’s in one. When worn separately I clearly can see the different colors but, when blended together it kinda faded on my skin-tone. Also if you missed out on Stereo Rose msf this would make a nice dupe as one of the three colors looks just like it.

Colored mascaras are back! Now i’m not a huge mac mascara fanatic. The Opulash formula is one out of the two mascaras that I do like by MAC. So when I saw that they were releasing colored Opulash. I had to pick a couple up. This mascara is long-wearing without flaking. It adds a nice amount of volume to the lashes without the clumping.

Victorious is a vivid purple
Themyscira is a true royal blue.

Note: When trying to get these mascaras to really pop. Use a lash primer. It not only conditions your lashes but it helps to boost the colored mascaras.

Overall, I really like this collection. There are some hits and misses but, the packaging and concept was well executed.I mean what did people expect from a comic book super hero theme. I mean, I would have liked to see more gold and stars in the packaging and maybe a mirror inside the mineralize skin finishes but, that’s so trivial. There are also a couple products that I have to see in person in order to purchase like Power Pink msf (it was sold out online),  Mighty Aphrodite and Valiance quad.
