MAC In The Groove Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos

On today July 8th, 2010, MAC Cosmetics debuted an amazingly huge collection, “In The Groove”. This collection is truly epic for several reasons. 1. The re-release of Stereo Rose Mineralize Skin-finish and 2. The delivery of  newly formulated mineralized eyeshadows trios. The formulation on these shadows are really nice, like that “I’m impressed nice” and not ” Oh you had such good potential but maybe next time” nice. lol These are creamy and yummy.   Any who this massive collection is composed of 4 re-promoted mineralize skin finishes, 6  lipsticks, 6 Cremesheen Glasses, 9 Mineralize Eyeshadows Trios and 5 Mineralize Blushes. This collection is sure to please everyone, especially those who love the mineralize eyeshadows trios and anyone who missed out on the original release of Stereo Rose.

Here’s what I pick up from the “In The Groove” collection. To see a complete listing click here

Page 138 MAC In The Groove Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos Go For It lipstick, is described as a  red-toned purple. This lipstick  is funky in a good way! It’s Violetta’s cousin and perfect when you want a different look!

In the Scene Cremesheen glass, is a warm orange-peach with white shimmer. This is a great color for those looking for a good everyday color.

Chillin Cremesheen glass,  is a very pale blue. In the tube it looks light blue but, when applied to skin and lips it kinda just looks cloudy clear if that makes sense.  This ones going to be good to tone down bold colors or to add a little something to a lip look.

Page 139 MAC In The Groove Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos These Mineralize Eyeshadow Trios have to be the most improved product MAC has ever revamped. These are not overly shimmery or flaky like the ones from past collections. These are creamy, silky and very easy to blend and stay true to color.  I only picked up to because honestly , a lot of the combos seemed super dupable.

Soften The Mood MES, is a mix of a muted sky blue with pearly sheen, mauve-toned champagne, and soft neutral brown with a soft sheen. The light blue in this trio is what really sold me. Its pretty but when swatched it really showed up true to color on my NC50 skin.

In The Groove is a neutral trio made up of a muted  gold, reddish rust brown, and pale peach with a slight white sheen. This trio wasn’t overly exciting for me but, the three colors together are  just pretty. These colors so easily can be duped though.

Page 140 MAC In The Groove Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos This collection wouldn’t be completed without Stereo Rose. OMG!! Stereo Rose has been on everyone’s must-have list since the announcement of this collection a couple of months ago. I missed it the first time it was released, and I did like most on Tuesday morning, I ordered it on-line only to get an email later that night stating it was on backorder :-( Huh! My order was confirmed at 9:31 am. Anyway! Not to be defeated, I headed to my favorite MAC store  today and snagged the last of the 8 they were sent. Yes, I said eight. Can you believe most stores were sent such low amounts? Like come on MAC, work with us here. This msf  has been selling on Ebay for hundreds of bucks and some stores were only sent 8! I’m still in shock but, lets move on.

Stereo Rose Mineralize Skin Finish is described as soft reddish coral pink with a golden-bronze sheen. Think MAC’s Rubenesque paint pot. I thought this one was going to be a bit darker with more red but, none the less I like the glow it adds to the face when applied like a bronzer.

Band of Roses MIneralize Blush is a light fuchsia pink combined with a dark raspberry pink. This blush is simply gorgeous, especially on darker skin tones. It adds that pop to the cheek, giving that totally flushed look. FYI, use lightly as this blush is super pigmented. And if too much is applied will make you look a bit clownish.

Page 141 MAC In The Groove Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos One thing I love about re-promotes is the sheer pleasure in seeing that I bought them in the past causing me to spend less. Yay! Here is a picture of all the Mineralize Skin Finishes released with this collection. Of course, the only new one is Stereo Rose.

Overall, I love this collection. The colors are nicely matched making them suitable for day or night, neutral and bold looks.  The only thing missing is nail polish.  Glad they didn’t add any though, because my wallet is already pretty tired from all the spending today.

So, what did you pick up from this collection?

I passed on the e/s trios but the swatches are looking so vibrant on your skin.
I think Band of Roses is a little too dark…I’ll have to use a VERY LIGHT hand when applying this.
