MAC Fashion Sets Lip Liner: Review, Swatches, Photos
On April 4th, MAC will release MAC Fashion Sets part two. This collection is already available online. In 2013 four distinctive sets, feature five impactful ways to wear Lipstick, Lip-glass, Lip Pencil, Eye Shadow and Nail Lacquer. These new inclusions of eyeshadow and lip liners really set the tone for bright brilliant color throughout the spring and summer months. Who doesn’t want matching lips, eyes and nails, right?
Silly is described as a “bright pink.” It’s a medium, bright pink with cool undertones and a matte finish. This lip liner is opaque in color but very dry. It took me sometime to get this one to be even on my lips because of the dry texture. It works great as a base for most blue-based lip products. It did take me a couple of layers to get the desired color. It does pull and tug on the lips and I found that this only really happened when I was using this to fill in my entire lips. When used to line my lips the tugging and pulling wasn’t noticeable.
Embrace Me is described as a “vivid pinkish fuchsia.” It’s a bold, bright blue-under toned fuchsia pink with a matte finish. This lipliner is opaque in color and applied evenly but, lacks the creaminess to make them glide on. This lip liner looks great worn under the coordinating lip glass or paired with the lipstick. Embrace Me lip liner was originally launched with the 2011 Tour de Fabulous collection.
Ablaze is described as a “bright apricot.” It’s a medium orange with red undertones and a matte finish. Out of the three, this one was the easiest to work with. But it was still drying. There was tugging and pulling on the lips but, it had the most color saturation with those strokes. I didn’t feel like it look forever to fill in my entire lips and I didn’t have to keep adding layers like I did with Silly.
Retailing for $15.00 for 0.05 oz. these lip liners all have one thing in common, the lack of creaminess. As with most MAC lip liners these wear for hours upon hours and can be worn alone or with lipstick, lip glass or both. These particular lip liners launched with this collection are truly matte ones and requires a lip primer or balm, to get them to glide over the lips while filling them in. If you are using these lip liners, as just that, than there will be less tugging and dragging on the lips. I love the colors but, yet again none are unique or that different in my opinion. I couldn’t get my hands on Heroine lip liner so be on the look out for a review of that one if I’m able to get it in the stores tomorrow.
MAC Fashion Sets are currently available online at maccosmetics.com and can be purchased at any Freestanding store or counter on Thursday April 4th.
