MAC Fashion Set Lipsticks: Review, Swatches, Photos
On April 4th, MAC will release MAC Fashion Sets part two. This collection is already available online. In 2013 four distinctive sets, feature five impactful ways to wear Lipstick, Lip-glass, Lip Pencil, Eye Shadow and Nail Lacquer. These new inclusions of eyeshadow and lip liners really set the tone for bright brilliant color throughout the spring and summer months. Who doesn’t want matching lips, eyes and nails, right?
Heroine is described as a Bright violet/purple with a matte finish. It’s a medium deep red-toned purple. This color is opaque, creamy and applies smooth and evenly. It is a full on color that looks great on most skin- tones. Heroine is a hint drying but, doesn’t hurt to wear and requires little to no touch ups. This color wore for about 6 hours . This color was originally launched with the Reel Sexy collection back in 2012.
Embrace Me is described as a bright fuchsia cream with a matte finish. It’s a medium fuchsia pink that has blue undertones. This color is rich and opaque. It doesn’t apply as smoothly as the other mattes from this collection. Just like most mattes its doesn’t glide on silky smooth but, it does pull on the lips as you apply it. This color wore for about 5 hours on me it also left a hint of a stain which was nice. I popped a little of the gloss over the stain and that lasted for another 3 hours. With the coordinating lip liner as a base it wore for about 8 hours.
Ablaze is described as a bright apricot cream with a matte finish. It is a medium orange-red with a heavy red undertone. This color is bold. opaque and in your face bright without being neon. It’s lightweight in texture and applies smooth and evenly. It is a hint drying which exfoliation is mandatory. Though this color is drying it didn’t make my lips feel dehydrated. This color wore well over 6 hours and when paired with the lip-liner last for about 8 hours.
Silly is a bright pink cream with a matte finish. It has a cool undertone which makes it wearable by many different skin-tones. Silly is opaque and applies evenly and smooth on well exfoliated lips. It has a light weight creamy consistency that doesn’t suffocate your lips (think Ruby Woo). There is a hint of shine/sheen to this lipstick. It is very subtle but it’s there and made the wear time less than the others. This color on me wore for about 4 hours and with the coordinating lip liner as a base it wore for about 7 hours before reapplication was needed.
Retailing for $15.00 each, all four of these lipsticks are all bold bright and on trend for spring in summer. While I’m loving the colors, I strongly feel that each lipstick is dupable. Not one of these colors are unique or new to me. If you have been on the MAC train for over 5 years you know that these colors have been seen before. I do like that the fashion sets are just that sets and you get to truly create looks using matching products.
MAC Fashion Sets are currently available online at maccosmetics.com and can be purchased at any Freestanding store or counter on Thursday April 4th.
