MAC Dare To Wear Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos

Yesterday MAC cosmetics launched its 1,265,155 makeup collection for 2010. LOL ! Maybe not that many collections have been released but, a new collection is at all freestanding stores and counters, titled “Dare to Wear”. This collection is comprised of 12 bright and bold eyeshadows and 6 turning heads lip-glasses. This collection is sure to please anyone who loves color, color and more color. This has to be one of the first collections that I’ve seen where most of the eyeshadows are of matte formulation. I may be wrong so please correct me if I am.  Five of the released eyeshadows are  MAC Pro shades and also there is a re-promote thrown in the loop as well.

Here’s what I pick up from the “Dare To Wear” collection. To see a complete listing click here

These lip glasses are unlike any other lip glass I’ve ever tried. I can’t explain them. The color pay off is more intense and so is the shine. It kinda feels like lipstick and gel blended together and thinned down if that makes sense.

Bold & Brash, hasn’t this name been used before? MAC step your naming game up. This color is described as bright red with multi-pearl. To me this lip glass is the Wizard of OZ Dorothy ruby encrusted slipper of the lips. It pops and sparkles beautifully.

Gimme That, is exactly  what I said when I swatched this color! OMG, this color is super hot, bright and pink. Described as bright fuchsia pink with pink pearl this color is sure to have everyone saying “Gimme That” (lol)

Ban That – described as a deep purple with multi-pearl, was the surprise of the bunch for me. I’m not much into dark glittery purples but this color and formula makes this a true beauty.

Dare to Dare - is described as a light blue pink with multi-pearl think thick opal color. It looks really pretty when layered over blue based pinks.

You can almost taste the rainbow with these eyeshadows. If you wanted a basic crash course in color theory, all you would need is to buy every shade launched with this collection. I didn’t buy every shade but, I was tempted

Going Bananas- which was originally launched with the C-Shock collection in 2007 is described as soft lemon yellow. This frosty shadow is bit tricky to work with and will require some packing on or a matching base to really pay off on darker skin tones.

Aqua – is described as a matte subdued, pale greyed aqua from the MAC Pro collection. To me this color is a pastel light blue that is a tad chalky. The color pay off on this shade is what makes it amazing. You kinda just deal with the chalkiness because it  stays so true to color on all skin tones.

Zingy – is a bold sharp matte blue. Now I swore this one looked like “Electric Eel” when I was in the store but the sales lady said “Zingy” was a little different. However when I got home and swatched it on my NC50 skin. I saw no true enough difference. Can you see a difference?

Lime – is a light yellow green matte color from the MAC Pro line. This color is really pretty and surprisingly a little hard to work with but then again i was using.

Sassy Green – is a vibrant dark green matte shadow. Originally I thought this was the matte version of  ”Wondergrass” that was released with the C-Shock collection but, these two shades are not similar at all to me. This color is unlike any I have ever seen from MAC. It is a total must.

Here are few of the eyeshadows that was released with this collection that I already had in my  makeup arsenal.

Overall, this collection is pretty hot! I love all the vibrant colors and I especially love that there are some bold matte shades offered. Weather  your looking to add a pop of color to your makeup collection or to step out of your neutral box. This collection is sure to have something forever one.

What did you pick up from the Dare to Wear Collection?
