MAC Blogger’s Obsession Collection: Review, Swatches, Photos
As a beauty blogger you want your efforts and opinions to be taking seriously. You want to be valued, because trust me when I tell you being a blogger is not easy work. Yes we share our opinions on a passion we love, from time to time get free products to test/consider, and even get to occasionally sip cocktails at events but, if you guys only knew the time, money and patience it takes to purchase products, test products, take pictures and share good swatches in a timely fashion some of you guys would be amazed and some would be shocked. So when I first heard that 9 very popular beauty bloggers were going to get the dream of a cosmetics junkie to come true. I was excited at the possibilities for these ladies and wanted to see just what they would come up with.
So with that being said I originally wasn’t going to review this collection. Why not might you ask? well because I respect the effort these bloggers put into creating colors and shades that we consumers would like/love. And I didn’t want them (not that they read my small blog) to feel any kind of way about my feelings of their products that they worked very hard to create. But putting that aside, I feel as a blogger, it is my duty to share and honestly review this collection because even though these bloggers had the honor and opportunity to create shades and colors for us. If the shoe was on the other foot, these ladies would be sharing info, reviewing and swatching our products for their readers. Right? Right.
I am extremely happy for these ladies and hope that every item from this awesome 9-piece collection sells out.
Here’s what I picked up from the Bloggers’ Obsession Collection, this collection is available online only from June 21st - August 2nd. To make a purchase head over to maccosmetics.com

The shades of U–Aileen www.theshadesofu.com
Sonoran Rain, is described as a deep coral-red with gold and silver pearl. This is a very nice shade, and on my skin tone I noticed the gold pearl more than the silver. This color reminds me of something but, at the time that brand and color escapes me. :-(

Evolution Revolution, is described as a warm peachy pink with subtle purple, green and blue micro glitter. This color on my skin-tone looks like many other peachy pink lip glass I wear but, the subtle tri-color sparkles makes this one different. When this lip glass is applied with a lip liner or over a lipstick. That’s when you really get to really embrace the subtle purple, green and blue micro glitter. In my opinion this lip glass is a perfect topper for any color you want to tone down a bit or make pop.
Nitro:licious 2046, is an intense shiny red. When I applied this color to my lips the first thing that came to mind was, OMG this is the same color as a brand new shiny candy-apple red corvette. This color is for the grown and sexy. Ladies & Gentlemen. It is vibrant, shiny and just sexy.
All Of My Purple Life is deep purple/grape with subtle sparkle. This color in the tube would have you to believe that it is very dark and vampy but, it can be whatever you want it to be. It can be vampy and dark or light and airy. I love the versatility. When worn alone it is sheer but, a nice pigmented grape color. But when applied over other lip products it is dark but vibrant. If that makes any kinda sense at all. Just know that you can make this purple color be as vibrant, bold or dark as you would like.
Beauty Maverick–Lily www.beautymaverick.com
Caqui is described as persimmon orange color. I’m going to be honest with you all. I thought I wasn’t going to like this one. I thought that this shade wasn’t going to mesh well with my skin-tone. But boy was I wrong. This color is amazing. I love the vibrancy this lip glass offers when worn alone. No lipliner is required for this one guys. And when paired with other orange lipsticks like MAC’s Neon Orange looks bold, vibrant and stunning.

Beauty Blogging Junkie–Amber www.beautybloggingjunkie.com
Sparkle, Neely, Sparkle! is a deep rusty brown with champagne-colored sparkle. This is a nice neutral brown that would would work great as a crease or transition color. It has that champagne sparkle to it but it is not over powering or annoying. Sometimes browns with sparkle annoy me but this one is OK. The sparkle doesn’t really show up heavily and blends nicely.
Jealousy Wakes, is an emerald green with teal and gold pearl. After seeing this swatched on Temptalia’s site. I thought on me it was going to look just like Surf USA, Gulf Stream and countless other blue-green shadows but, this color has more green undertones. Which makes it slightly different. This is a pretty color and might be dupable but, it’s already sold out online. So there is something about this shadow that makes it differently unique.
Lipstick Powder N Paint–Lesley www.lipstickpowdernpaint.com
Parisian Skies A muted grey-blue is a beautiful color. I originally thought this color was very similar to MAC’s limited edition Love and Lace eyeshadow. But this color is more intense and pigmented. It’s going to look great paired with a navy color shadow. There also seems to be a hint of a purple undertone in this shadow some where. It’s a nice touch.
The Makeup Girl–Lianne www.themakeupgirl.net
Hocus Pocus, is described as a dark sooty grey with silver pearl. After seeing this shadow demoed at Lianne’s 5th anniversary party last week. This eyeshadow really is magical. If you want to create a simple but easy smokey eye, this one eyeshadow will do the trick. Apply this shadow to the lid and just blend upward and instantly you have a beautiful smokey eye that won’ have you looking like you punched yourself in the face with black eye shadow. This shadow is great for the beginner and the advanced.
Overall, I really like this collection and I can’t wait to create a few looks using these products. Are/have you purchased anything from this collection yet? If so, share what you purchased in the comments below.Tagged with: 2011 Mac Collection, MAC Bloggers'
