e.l.f. Essential Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick: Review, Swatches, Photos
October 17, 2012 in Bargin/Drugstore Goodies, Makeup, Product Reviews by Silver Lips 2 comments
e.l.f Essential Jumbo Lip Gloss Sticks ($2.00 for 0.099oz/2.8g ) are described as “long-wearing tinted lip color that glides on like a lipstick but looks like a gloss. Mixed with nourishing Jojoba, Soybean and Vitamin E key ingredients, it conditions and moisturizes the lips. The twist-up component and smooth glide formula is easy to use for on-the-go application.” Available in 8 shades, these lip gloss sticks will work nicely for all skin-tones. These lip gloss sticks also comes in a nice mix of bold and neutral shades. Because I have been somewhat impressed with the new products e.l.f. has been releasing, I decided to give two of these jumbo lip gloss sticks a try.
Coco Loco is described as a deep camel creamy beige. It is good for any on-the-goer. It has just enough color to notice that something it is on the lips but, not enough color to be used alone. It feel very hydrating on the lips. There is a minty smell to this lip gloss stick. And it has no taste which is a plus for those who do not like lip products with a taste. It applies smoothly but, doesn’t have great color pay-off. There is no shimmer or added glitter and on my lips looks like a regular colorless glossy lip balm.
Flirty & Girly is described as a bright fuchsia pink with shimmer. This color is bright but subtle. There is a minty smell to this lip gloss stick. And it has no taste which is a plus for those who do not like lip products with a taste. It applies smoothly on to the lips. It has a decent color pay-off and wears for about 2 hours before touch-up is needed. I noticed that the shimmer added to this lip gloss stick fades out and ends up on the chin or cheek area. The feathering of shimmer got somewhat over shadowed by the fact that this color stained my lips a bit which was a pleasant surprise.
Overall, I like these lip gloss sticks. These lip gloss sticks are a great and cheaper alternative to products like the Clinque Chubby Sticks or to Revlon Kissable lip balms. All colors are not created equally. The color payoff varies depending on the color and formula. It is very easy to control how bold or soft you want these to be on the lips. Apply extra layers for a bolder color or lightly for just a wash of color. I personally like to layer these over lipsticks and glosses to add a nice glossy pop. I haven’t seen these in Target yet but, they are available online at eyelipsface.com
