Double Dutch Cosmetics: Extreme Shine Lip Gloss Review, Photos, Swatches
A couple months ago, I was contacted by the lovely twin owners (Raynell & Danyell) of Double Dutch cosmetics, to try out some of their cleverly titled extreme shine lip glosses. Their company is all about empowering young women to feel and treat themselves like royalty. They currently only have four products available for purchase but are looking to expand in the very near future. Now I initially thought to myself OK, what a great concept for lip gloss but, what will make their glosses any different from hundreds of others out on the market?
Well before I really dive into my review. Check out more information about Double Dutch Cosmetics.
Double Dutch Cosmetics is an entity of Sky’s The Limit Enterprise LLC founded by twins Raynell and Danyell Hutchison, who believe that every woman is royalty. Created for women of all color, Double Dutch Cosmetics was found to boost the self-confidence of the everyday woman from a student, housewife, to business professional.
Like no other cosmetic line, Double Dutch Cosmetics is a new exciting, youthful brand that caters to duchesses around the globe who love looking their best at all times no matter the occasion.
Each of the four available lip glosses have a Dutchess definition. They are as follows:
Island Dutchess (peach) – a girl who is adventurous, fun, exciting, sultry, and a risk-taker
Cosmic Dutchess (pink) -a girl who is smart, witty, ambitious, and dares to be different
Divine Dutchess (brown) – a girl who is easy-going, elegant, chic, and gifted
Crimson Dutchess (red) – a girl who is strong, bold, courageous, and a survivor
Retailing for $15.00 each. I think the two extreme lip glosses sent to me to try out (Divine & Crimson) truly are characteristics of my personality. The lip glosses both came individually sealed and were both housed in a pretty royal purple drawstring bag with the company name printed in silver. The lip glosses have a doe-foot applicator. Upon removing the safety seal from these lip glosses you instantly get a whiff of a pleasant familiar scent. The scent makes you think of your childhood and it also has you trying to pin-point where you know the smell from.
Divine Dutchess is described as chic, smooth lip gloss with the scent, color, and flavor of brown sugar. Personally I think this smells more like fresh pecan pralines or rum raisins. Crimson Dutchess is described as chic, smooth, lip gloss with the scent, color, and flavor of strawberry. And I agree. Crimson to be exact smells like a strawberry starburst. Both of these lip glosses offer great shine, smell and taste amazing. The formula is very sheer and lightweight. They aren’t sticky at all and have just enough pigmentation to be worn alone or over any lipstick.
On the downside, if your are not into lip glosses with a heavy scent or flavor, these will definitely turn you off. Be the scent good or bad to you, it is very powerful. And I know for me I can deal with some scents and not others. Like the Crimson lip gloss just makes me smile. So much so that I often just sniff it without using it. Weird right? But the Divine lip gloss from time to time tends to make me feel a bit nauseous, I notice this only happens when I’m cooking. My tummy has a mind of its own sometimes.
Overall, I really love the concept behind this company and really like the lip glosses. I can’t wait to see what else this company offers because, these glosses may not be extremely different in the area of shine and texture but these glosses differently carry a powerful and pleasant punch of scent and taste. If your teenaged daughter has been begging you to start wearing makeup, lip products in particular. This would make a great first product. As the message behind this brand in great and would help to boost anyones young or old self-esteem.
