why Jennifer Hudson honored Oprah and Fantasia?
Last night CBS aired The 33rd Annual Kennedy Center Honors, this year they honored Oprah Winfrey, Paul McCartney, Bill T. Jones, Jerry Herman, and Merie Haggard. The only honoree who I watched was Oprah’s. I know bad me right? Well I’m still in shock that Fantasia was no where to be found in the honor ceremony. Now don’t get me wrong while I think Jennifer Hudson did a very good job at singing “I’m Here” from the Broadway musical “Color Purple” . Fantasia owns that song. She has performed countless times on and off Broadway and truly made the song her own.
So what I really need to know is why Fanatasia wasn’t performing this song? I have my own opinion but, would love to hear yours. Share your thoughts below.

kennedy center gets a big “hmmm” from me. i’d say more but i work there in a capacity that doesnt REALLY matter but it would still be wrong for me to comment further.

I didnt get to see it but I mean its quite obvious to me why Fanny wasnt present…J. Hud is the media darling, Fanny has had bad press of late even with her recent legal victory. And I would bet money that they showed a Weight Watchers ad during the broadcast – hello – advertising dollars at work. I love both ladies, they are both extremely talented but money talks and there IS a such thing as bad press in these instances…

They both have excellent voices, so I am not sure. But you know that Chicago love runs deep as well as that ad money.

I co-sign with Shana. Fantasia has been going through a lot of drama lately. And she’s not exactly a class act when she performs. You know…she kicks off her shoes and whatnot. Not to discredit her because the girl can blow. But I see what you’re saying. I had the same sentiments when Beyonce sang Etta James’ “At Last”.

Because JHud can belt it out with out looking & acting all country.
And she has a higher profile.
She has an Oscar and a grammy and garners positive press attention…I could go on but you get the point lol
